What is a confluence, and why should we give a bloody Hell?

A confluence is, simply put, a crossroads of supernatural activity; an area of spiritual conflict within the greater War of Good Versus Evil. The Earth is spotted with thousands of minor (or roaming) confluences, but only twelve major (or fixed) confluences.

A minor confluence can occur spontaneously whenever spiritual conflict breaks through to the corporeal plane. These usually manifest in unusual supernatural occurrences for a short period of time, including ghost sightings, poltergeist activity, or the appearance of physical omens. A major confluence, however, is firmly tied to a specific geographic area on a seemingly permanent basis.

An area of major confluence represented an erosion of the veil between the spiritual and the physical caused by eons of conflict that has weakened the barrier. Within areas of major confluence, the distinction between the supernatural and the natural are so blurred as to result in ongoing mystical activity. This could mean such a skewed version of reality and normalcy as to boggle the human mind.

Witnesses in some areas of major confluence have reported the suspension of scientific principles, the manifestation of demonic entities, and even physical attacks from across the spiritual threshold.
